FTP

What is it ?
File Transfer Protocol. Once you have designed your website on your computer at home you need a way of transferring the files onto our servers so that they can be seen by the world, this is where FTP comes in.

Why should I use it ?
Easy way of uploading your web files onto our servers.

How do I use it ?
First of all you will need some FTP software, don't panic ! You can get several for free and they will perform perfectly well for most users. If you decide you need a program with more features then you will have to buy one although even then they are fairly cheap.
When you first use the program you will need to enter some information :

When you first open your FTP programme you will see a box like below: (Note that each program will be slightly different ) : Simply put in the following information as you see it below.

It is important that when you are entering the settings in your FTP program that you enter the remote start up folder as: /web

You will then be connected straight to the correct directory to upload your files to. Please note that if you do not enter this you will not be able to navigate to the correct directory.
